What can I tell you? It was an "emergent property" of the situation…

More seriously, if I play this one again on the same size of board, I am going to re-set it by just giving the US troops some more room. I don't think that much of the terrain behind the Brits is ever going to get used, because if the Americans get that far, then the Brits must have already lost…

Sounds reasonable, and I agree with your tactical assessment of the British position regarding room on the table, for what it's worth.

Yes. Glenn Pearce (the author) has also gently pointed out that I probably miscalculated slightly and gave both sides too much artillery. This probably helped to created the congestion around the American lines! My bad…
