Fascinating, if a bit jargon heavy, article. Totally thought provoking, I would encourage anyone to read it and the comments posted to it. I certainly agree with the principal that re-fighting WWII is NOT the course to continue to follow. TVAG |

If you really want to hurt your brain, those LCS actually have enough space to carry an entire mechanized company each, and are Roll-on/Roll-off cargo ships. So it would be do-able to ditch the big 'phibs, at least for surprise interventions at any place with a marginally-capable pier. You still need the big 'phibs for getting ashore in places where there aren't any ports, though. |
