Fascinating, if a bit jargon heavy, article.

Totally thought provoking, I would encourage anyone to read it and the comments posted to it.

I certainly agree with the principal that re-fighting WWII is NOT the course to continue to follow.

If you really want to hurt your brain, those LCS actually have enough space to carry an entire mechanized company each, and are Roll-on/Roll-off cargo ships.

So it would be do-able to ditch the big 'phibs, at least for surprise interventions at any place with a marginally-capable pier.

You still need the big 'phibs for getting ashore in places where there aren't any ports, though.
