Do Napoleonic Francophile gamers really like the white uniform the French infantry wore for a bit in the early period? Also, do you put your money where your mouth is and own a unit like this among your French forces (Photos a plus)?
I ask because I wonder if it doesn't water down the effect of having an all blue French army on tabletop? |

If we lived to 700 years old, I think I would paint the 15th with Soult(1809). That would be the only regiment for me. |

For my French Revolutionary Army, for sure there will be some old regiments with white coats, one already completed – still have to convert a Royal colour into a Republican, which is not easy. |

As a francophobe I hate white uniforms |

Definitely I like them. As I like them in later period. The same uniform, different colors.

The 15th in their white uniform is on my 'to do' list as well. |

Back in the 1970's, I had the 33eme de ligne painted for me – white faced "violette," after Stadden (conversions, 30mm). I also did the Paris Guard in green uniforms. Then I decided to focus on the Peninsular War, and found (to my horror)that the 33eme never served in Spain! Eventually I did battalion of he 2eme Leger; the 15eme de ligne (white faced black); used the 33eme as the 36eme de ligne; and have since done a large unit of Victrix French Line in bicorns with a drummer faced violette (imaginations-style) as another battalion of the 36eme, and use them as the 1st Brigade of my IInd Corps "Division." 2nd Brigade is a battalion of the (Stadden) 17eme Leger (Drum Major in yellow with Polish Czapka); (Victrix) 27eme de ligne; (Victrix) 65eme de ligne; and (Stadden) 88eme de ligne. 3rd Brigade will be (?) Legion du Midi; (stadden) 26eme de ligne; (Stadden) 3rd Swiss; and (Stadden) Paris Guard in Green. My "Rainbow" Division. GdeP |

You asked for photos, and I have not learned how to post them to this site. As a note, I discovered "Tinypics.com" today, only to learn that they are shutting down this Monday, September 9. GdeP |

Not really, but I'm considering doing Joseph Bonapart's regiment at some point and they used white uniforms with green facings. |

GdeP – it took me a long time to figure out how to post photos here, but I managed it using Dropbox. |

>>As a francophobe I hate white uniforms A totally ridiculous take on things, given half the Continent at least, and Russia, explicitly saw white as the 'Royal' colour de rigeur and clothed themselves accordingly! Et toi, mon cher… d |

No. I fulfill my Old World dynastic urges by painting Austrians. Various shades of white, especially hues like antique and ivory really do give it the feel of ancient, royal conservative monarchy. I enjoy my French looking like brigands and swashbucklers. |

von Winterfeldt 11 Sep 2019 11:51here white coated French Republican infantry Very nice and these would be the only 'white' frenchies in my future je crois for a slightly backdated view of the Revolutionary period since a friend has raised an early Austrian force; save a few selectly placed 'Guide-Interprete' chaps for my petit Grande Armée 1805 (good ol' Minifigs 25s. As for WarEmblem comment- I also have built up an 'enemy' corps based upon the Austrians @ Austerlitz (W.Foundry 28s). I'd go as far as saying painting this smaller discrete force of mixed types was more enjoyable than the mass of French in blue, but I am no heretic! Certainly Keinmeyers Avant-Garde which fought so well (but strategically badly following their 'directed' orders) is a well mixed bunch. The only white OTTOMH being O'Reillys Cheavaux-Leger and some Grenz. And no, the 'line in white' are definitely not yet completed. d |
