Tankers still in Berets and a tank in Grey with what are clearly late war Infantry? But I do agree very clever use of the background photo |

Not sure we do actually (Grin, even smirk) It got very few responses. One at least, who knows almost nothing about Panzer Truppen after 1939. But for sure that beret was lost after Poland. The ankle wear suggests late WWII, as well as the collars on the infantry. But that tank is Dunkelgrau, not Dunkelgelb. Great modelling. All I am saying is massively wrong. And again, I am a visiting Napoleonic fanatic

Tankers still in Berets and a tank in Grey with what are clearly late war Infantry? Not sure about that. They are not clearly late war infantry to my eye. I can't speak to the question of ankles and collars, but the infantry kit I can see clearly qualifies as early war. I see Mauser 98Ks, not StG-43s or -44s. I see a Panzerbuechse 39, but no Panzerschreck or 'fausts. The troopers are in field gray, not cammo smocks. I can't see the LMG, so no judgement on that. And the tank itself is a Pz IVG, not an -H or -J. When I put all of that together it looks to me like spring/summer/fall of 1942. Dunkelgelb was coming in around that time, but not yet dominant. Would a tanker still have had a beret? Well, if he was a veteran, he might. I'd say I don't go for the "massively wrong". Maybe only "got to have an appropriate backstory", and maybe "still a bit wrong" if the collars and ankles do in fact conflict. -Mark (aka: Mk 1) |

MK1 I saw a image of a long serving NCO in Normandy with a black beret and still in his black uniform in a MKIV H at around the time of the invasion. He was pointing forward to advance signaling to his unit. I bet he was proud that he had it with him. |

Gosh. Now that is a surprise. Even by 1940 Invasion of France they were becoming scarce, although WELL documented still. |
