And this is what happens when you only have one shipyard capable of working on carriers. Any major issue slowing down work has immense follow-on effects. It is a matter of national security that the US get a second shipyard able to fix aircraft carriers. |

The US has two shipyards that can perform full service on carriers, one on each coast. On the Pacific coast it is Puget Sound Navel Shipyard. Now would it be better to have more then one shipyard on each coast capable of full service support for carriers? I would say definitely! Is the government willing to foot that bill? Not likely or we wouldn't be down to just two yards. |

PSNS can't do carrier reactor refuelings, those go to Newport News. |
