As an advertiser, the main benefit to my business is access to the Marketplace, where I can list (mostly) clearance items/ranges. But I now see that board is intended solely for individual sales, not businesses, though I am not alone in using it (Joe's Shop, among others does so).

Do I understand it aright?

It has always been my understanding that the Market Place boards are for individuals to dispose of their surplus stuff and not for vendors to sell their products. Personally, I think that is the way it should be and agree with the policy. There is one company who I will not purchase from because they flagrantly hawk their wares and advertise their sales on the Market Place. And for some reason they are permitted to. I have purchased from your shop Extra Crispy and will do so again but I will admit, I won't purchase anything you advertise on the Market Place out of principal. No offence meant. Your paid advertising will snag me when I need something you sell. Cheers

No offense taken – usually I only flog clearance or personal items not regular stock. But yeah, I know I'm not the only offender….

Private Matter is correct, this has been long-standing policy.

Some people appear to be selling so many items that one could say that they're basically running a part-time business here with their numerous marketplace ads. Where do you draw the line?

Private Matter is correct, this has been long-standing policy.

If that's true, it's rarely enforced.

Mark,

Based on the posting I have seen you do, I would say you were posting as a member. A few good deals on older items in a single post. When compared to some of the others (multiple single item posts in a single day with new posting seemly coming every few days or posting about current sales), I believe you are using the marketplace as intended.

I don't believe you should be penalized for being a vendor.

On the Marketplace…when does an individual become a "shop"?

Where do you draw the line?

What do you suggest?

If that's true, it's rarely enforced.

Nobody's been complaining, either. grin

@VCarter: yes, most are old stuff of mine. But I do post shop clearance too..

Private Matter04 Sep 2019 4:03 p.m. PST

Really Bill? You'll enforce some rules even though no one complains but you'll only enforce other if someone complains? I understand you house your rules but fairness and consistency among friends would be nice.

If it is a policy, why does someone need to complain to have it enforced.

Because our eyes are not everywhere. grin
