Yes, Northamptonshire Battlefields society took their 550th anniversary game to The Other Partizan last week and refighting the battle in the afternoon, Robin Hood (Robin of Redesdale) decisively defeated the king's henchmen (William Herbert and Humphrey Stafford, the earls of Pembroke and Devon)
The figures are Wargames Foundry, supplied to us in a mutual arrangement (our chairman did some battlefield guiding at Stoke Field, we got a generous donation for our battlefield model), painted by me and Graham. The flags are printed fabric by Fluttering Flags who also have generously supported the project. The research for the project took around two and a half years (although there are still plenty of issues to resolve) More from Partizan and the Edgcote game on the Shows North blog The research is summarised in Graham's book: The battle of Edgcote: re-evaluating the evidence Phil

Thanks for the positive comments. It is always a pleasure to share one's activities but even better when people respond . The rules used were an adapted (but still quite simple) version of Hail Caesar (basically we've just changed the bits that didn't seem quite right). We picked HC because we wanted something that would play fairly quickly, that many visitor players might know (and which would give plenty of variation). Edgcote is a battle where there are a number of different components in the narrative (no single definitive account of what happened – who did arrive/who left early or didn't turn up etc.) .. The way every game is different (but sort of plausible) with HC seems to suit this battle. Hope that makes sense. Phil SoA Shows North |

Lovely photos and miniatures, nice to see the old Foundry Wars of Roses range still in use, the first minis I ever painted back in the day, and unlike the newer Perry range(nice as they are)these have a lot of character and charm! |

Thanks whiterose … yes, still some life in the older '28s' yet. We had these on show in the ARTworks shop in Kettering on Saturday then at Hereward in Peterborough on Sunday. It helps us explain the latest understanding of the carnage at Edgcote – and allows us to wargame with visitors who want to stay a little longer. Big win for Robin at Hereward: all over by the time John Clapham arrived … Phil Northamptonshire Battlefields Society |

Beautiful work- lead doesn't age, except when it crumbles! Just a word, a refurb on the polystyrene hills is due… poster paints in several shades of browns and greens is very effective. Maybe a tad drop of old fashioned sawdust ;-) regards `new to Medieval, dave |
