My idea of a hurricane party is a highball and good cigar. Seriously though, looks like Dorian is turning. The spousal unit has had me running ragged for the last couple days, she's toeing the line between being disaster preparedness and Doomsday prepping. I did clear out the grandkids toys in the back yard and tested my generator. |

Well, it's beginning to look more and more like the little boy who cried wolf. Except the little boy is the media and the wolf is weather in general, or hurricanes specifically. The Bahamas are taking a serious pounding, but here in Florida, at least north central Florida, this hurricane has, so far, kinda fizzled.
Don't get me wrong, I believe in being prepared but they were hyping this storm almost before it left Puerto Rico and have been beating the same drum for over a week. They hadn't clue where it was going then and they're not all that sure now. Call me a skeptic and grumpy old fart, but I lived through 58 Minnesota winters complete with life threatening blizzards and summer's severe thunder storms and tornados. I have never heard some much hype and hyperbole as recently. They could not get through a single weather report/update without using the words catastrophic or devastating once or twice. |

Looks like the storm is not going to be as bad as first thought along the US Coast. But we will have to wait and see. Hopefully it will do little damage there. |

The little rain we had here in north central Florida was nothing. I had to go out near the east coast today, just south of Daytona, on business and nothing was happening, just some rain and really menacing looking clouds. |
