Hello again all,
People often ask me how I scratch build my vehicles.
Here is a simple way to scratch build a grav one. It should be easy to follow.
Even if you draw & take measurements , it is a trial & error exercise.
It is not difficult , you just have to imagine the final ( sort of ) shape.
I have also finished the one which I converted from the rogue one cockpit ( previous posts )
The turrets are made from PVC ( like the ones that are used for notice boards )

More pics on the blog.

If you have questions just ask.

Really neat! There is some great technique in there.

It may not be difficult for you, but appreciate that some people have a much tougher time with this. Hopefully the pictures on your blog will inspire people, they show the process very clearly.

Nice – have tried card in the past and it didn't pan out.

I made a few grav vehicles with card a very long time ago, but I like plastic objects better now (e.g., soap dishes, mice).

Thanks all,
Andrew , when I say not difficult I am comparing it to other builds I did , but a scratchbuilder must envisage the final model.
Angles can be daunting, yes, but card is very cheap & available ,try until you get something you like… you will…

I do agree with you but honestly it is just a simple boxy shape & I think it can be done by anyone who has some skill.
My suggestion is that one should first learn how to build basic shapes ( a cube, then a pyramid, then a hexahedron etc ).
The pictures should be easy to follow & anyone can ask questions.😉

Plastic is indeed you friend Ober but add card to it & it becomes super.

Nice, been thinking about scratch building my ground support for my 15mm battletech mechs, APCs and battle tanks, making them hovers would be easier than tracked, not sure what materials I'll use, but thinking of playing around with the polymer clay, maybe making them M.a.K looking.

Indeed it is Gunner,
I would use card. Cheaper, easily available, sharp angles easily done & almost anything can be done with it. Just draw one plan , then print as many as you want

Yeah, ordinarily, but M.a.K style is all curves/round shapes.

Ace work as always Z Dog! Great to see a master returning and love your spider mechs too, especially the combat robot made of sprue, he's brilliant!
