Has anyone ever done WWII campaigns using made up imaginations? I've often considered the idea with a slight variation on troop equipment. Terrain would mainly be dense forest and hills. I'm an infantry guy at heart, so my thinking was to use late war Germans armed with assault rifles, SMGs and the GW43 using the great variety Peter Pig has to offer. Their opponent would be American Marines also from Peter Pig. Armored doctrine, due to the nature of most if the terrain would be early to mid-war British, German, Soviet, and possibly Japanese tanks and SPGs, but also supported by American and German half-tracks. Basically, the two main antagonists would have well developed, modern infantry forces with tanks and SPGs for close support in the restricted terrain. Both sides would also have airborne/special ops units based on American airborne and German Fallschirmjagers. With Peter Pigs release of a host of new Russian figs armed with SMGs and SVTs I was thinking about making them a third country. Obviously, infantry firepower predominates in my imaginary conflict. Anyone done WWII based imaginations? Any variations from the historic norm?

I have 3. Brecon which is soviet based, Coadan which is germanic or Finnish and a breakaway state called Miravillea which is 1944 British with Napoleonic Naples regimental names. I am working up a variant if memoir 44 on 10cm hexes. All solo so slow progress but the original nations date back 40 years to when I first started their history.

Yep. Based on a 1930's war between a hodgepodge of post WWI nations were the USSR doesn't exist. A straight outgrowth of a 1700's Imagination.

I know you're asking about WW II, but I think WW I imaginations is where I'd put the Quar. I never know where to post about them.

I have run several WWII imagi-nation campaigns, and publish a book about one entitle A WINTER-ISH WAR.

This features Opeland (standing in for Finland) and SPUR (standing in for the USSR) in a mini-campaign based on the Winter War.

The Late Otto Schmidt used to have a WW2-ish world called "The Shattered Century"…

I was building a force towards that which was a semi-Vichy French based organization that had a Panther tank… painted pink.

A Pink Panther… Yep. I went there.

Commanded by Commandant Clouseau.

Society of Daisy is still alive on Yahoo, Russ. Do Google-ly thing and I think Tracy is now the Moderator, he will let you in…

Wasn't Mark Copplestone working on a range of imaginary interwar figures?

@RittervonBek – 40 years in the making. That's amazing. I really appreciate the legacy of wargaming stories like this.
