I'm wondering how viable a Original BSG project would be? I'm thinking 28mm ground skirmish.

Any ideas for suitable proxy's?
Colonial Warriors?
Cylons?
Viper and Raider ships?
Colonial Landram (APC)?

Crooked Dice Miniatures due the Cylons. YFT Design Studios have a Cylon Figure also and they used to due the Colonials. I think a lot of their items are currently unavailable though.

Hope this helps,

Crooked Dice has a few sets of not-Cylons. Look for the "Argonauts " in their Villains and Monsters category.

I'm not sure what you could use for colonials. Maybe some of the Crooked Dice ARC astronauts…

For Vipers, you could use the free card stock Croatale IV models by Genet Models (formerly Ebbles Miniatures). He also has the LV86 Onager, which is similar to the Landram. And, he has a Trilateral Union Reaver, which bears a passing resemblance to a Cylon fighter… Cardstock can be finicky, but if you have the patience you can't beat the price!

By an odd coincidence, I actually bought a used Landram toy at a flea market last week to use as a generic sci-fi exploration vehicle.

Nexus Miniatures used to make some "not Colonial Warriors" – I have some unpainted somewhere. They're a little large for 28mm figures and acceptable rather than great sculpts.

Here's the web store that is linked from the Nexus Facebook page: link – don't know if this is still live or not. I could have sworn that the not-Colonials were under the "Dino Rangers" heading, but if so then they're not there any more. There's also the "Caprican Legion", which are reminiscent of Cylons.

YFT Design Studios == Nexus Miniatures (same owner, new name). I'd send an email to see what they have in stock before ordering as I think not all things are available despite what the site says.

Hey, just a heads up about Nexus / YFT. I'm just one of many who ordered figures from him which never arrived. Just a word of warning.

I've been toying with the 28mm skirmish for a while. I'm getting ready to put it to the test on the tabletop soon.

I'm about to build a Landram using the paper model as a guide, but building it out of styrene and a 1:48th scale M60A1 tank model for the wheels.
