It just made my bucket list! grin

So, not pesos???

Out of range for me, sadly.

Wonder how much those Migs buried under the sand in Iraq go for?

Andrew Walters21 Aug 2019 7:53 a.m. PST

That's a good price. I assumed it was inoperable, but no! This price is for a fully operable, non-demilitarized F-16A/B (we should assume it's an A). With 2000 hours left on it, no less.

Bad news, they're not going to sell it to you. Only to authorized defense contractors. For "testing".

Thresher, on those Migs the shipping and handling would be the major expense.

As for being a defense contractor, Does anyone else remember Hadley Tank? The (non-fiction) book was STRAW GIANT. Back in the days when they were careful who they gave credit cards to, it was hard for freelance writers to qualify for one. So the author founded Hadley Tank. It made nothing. It didn't pay anyone. But the defense freelancers would say they'd been employed by Hadley Tank for X many years. Comes the MacNamara Defense Department, they were asked to bid on the Army's new MBT. The Whiz Kids had checked carefully, and Hadley Tank had never had a cost overrun on a defense contract.

I say found Stone Mountain Avionics and make them an offer.

Wow, that's a quarter of it's life left!

If it was a two-seater, I'd be interested (assuming I had a spare $10 USDmil to burn). It'd be great fun, if hideously expensive, to take people up for a ride in it.

Demiliterized? pfft, I want all the bells and whistles, and apparently all the bangs and booms, too. Hmmm…how much is pilot's license?

I can see it now:

Got a neighbor who is a problem and a pain? One pass……..

Film at 6. grin

"So, not pesos???"

No, it's a better deal to pay in Zimbabwean dollars… ;-)

robert piepenbrink Supporting Member of TMP21 Aug 2019 3:18 p.m. PST

Zephyr, you haven't thought it through. Think what it would take to ship that many Zimbabwean dollars. Anyway, some of them are collectors' items.

Thresher0121 Aug 2019 6:28 p.m. PST

I'll bet I can get a great deal on Venezuelan dollars, if they'll take those.

Zephyr121 Aug 2019 9:31 p.m. PST

"Think what it would take to ship that many Zimbabwean dollars. "

Some of them come in million dollar denominations. Easy enough to fit in a wallet… ;-)

Then again, a MiG-15 cost about $50 USDk a couple years ago. The first ones they imported years ago had the guns and ammo loaded up. The FFA was not amused.
