Vojvoda: I love that idea! How many figures were used? How long did the game last?

I am planning on quick skirmish games that could be played in a short evening and still provide a lot of fun.

good evening (my time)!

KEN HAFER'S NEOLITHIC rules are great fun to play! i have been playing them off and on for several years, and highly recommend them.

this maybe hard for some of y'all to believe, but it is true.

when GUNS & GIRLS/CHAIN REACTION was being playtested for THWG, the playtestors ( which included KEN HAFER) used these rules for just about every imaginable gaming scenario, including urban gangs and crime gaming (which was the original intent of the rules. MR THWG wanted some rules to play with BOBBY JACKSON'S THUGZ miniatures).

one of the offshoots of this play testing, resulted in the playtestors and rules writer venturing into the NEOLITHIC using G&G/CR MK.I (MODIFIED). just imagine our delight when we discovered that the rules could be easily adapted for hunting parties, war parties, even B movie cavemen vs exploration parties, time travellers, soldiers, dinosaurs, even space aliens. . .

LEGENDS OF ARABY proved to be even more easily adapted for neolithic play and even RPGing.

CHAIN REACTION v 2.0 (modified) works exceptionally well for neolithic gaming, too.

and all of these can be played with living folks or solo, in a small or large space, reaching a completed game in 2 hours or less.

no i am getting paid by THWG, no i am not related to ED, either, but he is my friend and a straight shooter.

rules are available in hard copy mailed to you, or in a www downloadable version.

do not remember the addy for the yahoogroup, but it is listed as:

TWOHOURWARGAMES@yahoogroups.com

also, there are some CR related neolithic scenarios in the files at my own yahoo group.

Also Reaper Miniatures does a couple of neanderthals.
I'd second ancient Germans for Cro-magnons.
HLBSC also has cavemen, iirc.

CooperSteveOnTheLaptop06 Sep 2005 6:53 a.m. PST

What about the poor old Homo erectusssess? The HLBSC ones are pretty poorly armed compared to eg Copplestone cave men, short too, I think when I get round to using them they'll be a harassing force, trying to deter the cro-mags from hanging around in their valley…

I cannot believe that, when I brought up the subject to someone, they thought I was somehow proposing some kind of race war!!! Some people are so touchy these days!

Cacique Caribe18 Sep 2005 12:43 a.m. PST

Has anyone given any additional thought to the original subject of using 28mm figures to skirmish between Neanderthals and modern-type humans?

I am almost at the point of ordering my Copplestones and some Foundry savage Germans to play the part of the moderns.

Warg Ill a while back had a THIRTEENTH WARRIOR/EATERS OF THE DEAD scenario with Vikings vs Neanderthals

2ndH:

Who/what is Warg III? I am interested. Thanks.

Wargames Illustrated the UK wargames magazine… This article was no more than a year or two ago…

Thanks. For a minute I thought this was some reference to the warg riders in LOTR. :)
