"En 1811, El Ejército de Wellington luchaba en unión de sus aliados españoles, contra el Ejército de Napoleón en España.

El día 27 de octubre la 5º División británica mandada por el General Hill, se hallaba en Alcuéscar, y los franceses en Arroyomolinos, en la División británica iba encuadrado el regimiento número 34 llamado "The Border Regiment".

El General Girard ignorante de la persecución de la que era objeto, había desalojado Torremocha, llegando por Albalá a Arroyomolinos, donde se detuvo, una vez estando localizados en el pueblo, los aliados se repartieron las misiones y prepararon el ataque para el día siguiente…."
