All,
So spending money I do not yet have, I am trying to plan a squad of USMC for Vietnam using the Gringo 40s figures. From what I have found, a full strength squad is 14 guys, the HQ is a Sgt. and a Grenadier. There are 3 fireteams each consisting of an NCO with M16, 2 riflemen with M16s, and a SAW gunner with I believe a modified full auto M14. Does that sound correct on paper? I would probably add an M60 team for scenario specific cases.
Also, who has VC or NVA that are compatible to the Gringo 40s figures?

That is correct from the research I did years ago.

Bear in mind they might be seriously understrength. 2 M60 teams per platoon but they could have a 3rd.

Nick, you pretty much got it. When the M16 came into full use, the "automatic rifleman" designation in each fire team was basically discontinued. Since the M16s had full auto capability, it was really redundant. Putting an M60 with the squad will work and you also have the option of having the entire squad made up with M14s. Not sure what rules you are using, so there might be some variation in firepower in your game if you chose that option.

Yeah, those Gringo 40s look great. A bit late in my case, since all my Vietnam Marines and Vietnamese are 20mm.

Sam, rules will likely be either FNG or Fistful of Lead, so a very personalized game from the US side.

Another "oldie" you might want to look at is the old Charlie Company rules still available through RAFM. Inexpensive to boot. It is same side or co-op with the GM running the Viets.
