A good friend asked me to give him a hand with putting together a based for his Playmobil arena that he plans on using for 28mm gladiator games. Progress has been rapid (so far) link

I have that but I have seats all around, looking forward to seeing your progress.

Nice!

I am curious how the model itself was prepared—it is clearly painted, but was it merely spray painted a sandy color, or is there more to it?

I'm going to follow this one as I have that Playmobil arena.

YogiBearMinis,

Kevin painted the model, I believe that he sprayed it with a slightly darker base coat and then (taking advantage of the high level of relief of the detail) sprayed again with a lighter color coat at a downward angle to produce the shade/highlight effect. I will ask him and get the specifics.

YogiBearMinis,

Kevin informs me that he used Valspar 410-85042SP Multi-Surface Enamel Paint spray can La Fonda Sagebrush, and Valspar 410-85005SP Multi-surface spray can Churchill Hotel Vanilla (who the heck names these colors?)

The whole model was sprayed with the darker color and then oversprayed with the lighter color from above at an angle to highlight the details

I bought one of these for exactly this purpose, but my toddler has decided to occupy it and force his toys to fight in it.

ether drake,
Just be patient, in a few years it will be yours again

Zenithal priming of the arena, eh?
