So we will try this again, since my last attempt seemed to quadruple post.

I really enjoy Kings of War, coming from ancients, this is exactly what I want in a fantasy game. Its at the right complexity level for this time in my life; the community is great, and the multibasing is great for creativity.

I like searching for the miniatures I want for my vision of my army; and I always prefer rank and flank games.

So Mantic has announced 3e and their starter set for it. Since it is armies both my son and I are looking at, we'll probably get it.

Hope you like!

How do you think these new Northern Alliance sculpts will match up with Frostgrave/Northstar figures? I am sure the FireForge northmen will be larger than both, as they seem sized to match Warhammer plastics. But if these Mantic figures go well with Frostgrave plastics then it would make a really great, diverse army.

Thats what I am thinking. I already have Varangur, which are Viking types from Shieldwolfe, Footsore, and Bad Squiddo so I am excited about adding this and the Frostgrave ones and using some of my Varangur for Northern Alliance.

The models in this box are some of the best Mantic have done IMHO. Things are looking up for us KOW players.

Very nice looking miniatures and the best thing about them is…

They are not done by GW.

How do you think these new Northern Alliance sculpts will match up with Frostgrave/Northstar figures?

They should match up quite well.

Oh and just got the Email about pre-ordering their stuff.

The game may be fun. But the miniatures are simply not good. No where close to the quality of sculpts you get from GW. You get what you pay for.

I didnt post this for a GW vs Mantic rant either way.

I disagree that you always get what you pay for. The GW miniatures ARE better, even though I do not personally like their current aesthetic. But I could find miniatures that I DO like better, cheaper than GW.

Rules wise, GW games are much worse if you want a wargame, and much more expensive.

Thats my opinion.
