My apologies, I'm 90% sure someone posted an excel spreadsheat that had the actual dimensions and the 1/72, 1/87 and 15mm model equivalent of the various common US and Warsaw Pact gear (Abrams, HMMWVs, T-72s, BMP…) Does anyone know where one could find a resource like this? Respectfully |

I don't have it but it is easy enough to calculate from online sources. Divide the length by 72, 87, or 100 (for 15mm) and you have it. |

I generally use 3mm/foot for 1/100th scale, as a rough guide. |

Just be aware there is always a fair bit of variance in what measurements you are quoted. You might think it would be pretty standard, but the truth of it, ascertaining the exact dimensions of an armoured vehicle is a bit of an art. (Even if you have one in front of you to measure with a tape measure – and take photos showing where you measured from (because a listed number you have no ide!) – you'd still only be accurate to that particular vehicle!) Sometimes the sources can be a lot different; just today I was explaining to a potential customer that that Wikipedia's listed length for the Scorpion (5.288m) is quite different to a lot of other sources (at 4.79m). (I wouldn't go go far as to say the former is wrong – I'd have to have concrete information myself to assert that comfortably – but it is certainly inconsistent with the others, including the proportions of listed width on the technical drawings I've looked at.) So unless you want only very general dimensions, it's worth checking a variety of sources (even if just on the web) and then taking your best guess! (I have to do this all the time, as you might imagine.) |
