After the disappointment of Discovery and the angst and gnashing of teeth over nuTrek, I would really love to see a series that picks up right after Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. Instead of Kirk and the Enterprise, though, the show would follow Captain Sulu and the USS Excelsior. The props and designs would be exactly the same as were used in ST6:TUC, so no new crazy warp nacelles or technology that outstrips that seen in TNG 75 years later. No time travel, no holodeck, no "inner feelings" counselor on the bridge, no lone alien crewman who is allowed to wear his/her/its own special uniform. Just good, gritty exploration and thrilling heroics. My nomination for the role of Sulu would be… Sulu! Specifically John Cho, who has already shown his command presence as Sulu in nuTrek. I think he has the chops to be an excellent captain of the Excelsior. My other nominee for Sulu would be BD Wong, who, while also not Japanese, has also demonstrated a degree of gravitas that would serve him well as a starship captain. I always felt like there was a lot of unexplored potential in the years between ST6 and TNG. Excelsior would be a great vehicle (pardon the pun) for exploring that. |

Always thought Sulu-driven show would be fantastic. |

Anything to wash the stench of the nuTrek from my nostrils. |

The cast, the crew, the ships or the setting aren't the problems. The problems are the writers and producers. |

Parzival's 100% right. Sorry Javelin, but you're fixing the wrong problem. |

Wanted to see if Enterprise series was going to do the Romulan war in season 6,but got cancelled. Sulu series would be cool though. |

I'm with you, Parzival! If I were in charge, Berman and Braga would be banned from coming anywhere within a parsec of the show! |

Series from the Romulan, Klingon, or Gorn points of view. That alluring, female, Romulan sub-commander, who tried to seduce Spock in the episode of TOS, where he and Kirk stole their cloaking device would make an excellent person to start a series from. She could serve before that encounter, and perhaps even afterwards, after her eventual release from the Feds, as she goes on a revenge tour vs. the Feds/Vulcans given her deep-rooted rage over being tricked by Spock (she's given a demotion – a major insult in the Rommie culture, and a smaller ship as punishment for her previous failure). The other Romulan commander from the episode with the Bird of Prey vs. the Enterprise, in TOS would also be excellent too. He died in that one, so we're limited to his career before that battle. Various Klingon captains would work too. |

War with Tzenkethi. Or with Kilrathi, like they once they were working on. |

Nice! It would indeed be nice to see the alien races as something other than monolithic foreheads. |

I love your ideas Jav. :) Personally, I'd like to see something post TOS and before TMP. Like the "Phase II" project that never came to fruition. |
