I recently noticed Pandemic the fall of Rome board game in a shop. The original game has all players on the same side fighting a global disease outbreak. So this seems to be similar dealing with migratory tribes. There are lots of reviews on YouTube which show it to be a great game but, my question is how historically accurate does the game try to be? An aspect the game reviewers don't address. |

Hmm- it's very abstract so not very- it is pandemic with barbarians instead of diseases… It is fun- my group enjoyed it immensely but don't expect a wargame… |

The mechanisms are abstract and some of the player roles are more appropriate for the Late Republican or Early Imperial Roman period. But the invasion routes are valid and some mechanisms such as the increasing reliance on recruiting barbarians into the Roman army also feel right. I have to say I have enjoyed the game and felt it was worth the purchase price. It plays well as a solo game as well as a co-operative game for 2 to 5 players. |

Played it once, and thought it was a lot of fun. There is a sense of the historical factors involved in the barbarian invasions of the Roman Empire. They made an effort to get it right, but it is very much dependent on the roles and decisions made by the players. |
