We played game three in an eight game campaign test, recreating the first month of ops that Bomber Command initiated during the so called ‘Battle of Berlin'
This game was full of drama with a very good bombing pattern despite the thick cloud masking the markers and with one lucky Halifax making it back with four damage dice only to crash before landing but with all the crew managing to bail out. Looks good. In some ways it looks a bit like the old Avalon Hill B-17 game with the different route stages and dicing for anything happening. The trick there is to get the odds right for something to happen! The planes look good as well. Are they Tumbling Dice? |

Thank you. The game has had the benefit of about fifteen years worth of tweaking to get it to where we are now, but still retains the drama of the original concept, hopefully combined with the ability to play multiple games in a campaign set up, which is what we are working on. The planes in the picture are from Magister Militum, 617 Squadron and CAP Aero ranges and we use 1:300th models from Scotia Air to fight the Bomb Runs and Intercepts. |

Looks like fun. Thanks for sharing your battle report and photos. I especially like the addition of the NF units, and their locations along the route, as well as those of the escorting British NFs. Would love to know how you use those in your games, and how you determine raid success and bomb-damage assessment. |

The nightfighter rules are pretty much as in the rules, but we have started using some of the ideas from the chaps on the Target for Tonight Facebook Group which has added variety to the skill of the fighter crews and the air gunners on the bombers, plus British intruders. The VPs and bomb damage assessment is based on ideas from some board games played around with to fit with TfT and is still a work in progress hence the play-test. |
