Can anyone point me to a side by side comparison of Freikorps, Irregular, and Blue Moon 15mm plains wars U.S. Cavalry? Absent that, can anyone tell me how well they compare in size? What about wagons, etc.?

I can tell you that Freikorps are close to true 15mm, and having seen Blue Moon figures (although not the Indian Wars range), I can also tell you that they are significantly larger: at least 18mm.

Don't forget about Minifigs; its second generation Indian Wars figures are very good, and even the first generation figures are good. Size-wise they fall somewhere between Freikorps and Blue Moon.

Freikorps are small, and Blue Moon are big. Peter Pig is another manufacturer that runs more true to scale, so I imagine that they would look okay with Freikorps.

In my opinion Freikorps, Minifigs and Peter Pig all mix well. Blue Moon are 18mm and do stand out. That doesn't stop me using them as I will live with a little incongruity for a more dynamic and varied tableau.

Interesting how different people's perceptions differ – I bought a load of 15mm figures from various manufacturers before realising I'd never complete the project and sold them on!

Peter Pig do a nice range but ‘true' 15mm. Compatible with the less well detailed Freikorps. Hovels U.K. also do quite a nice range which is slightly larger, about the same level of detail as Freikorps. Hovels also do some nice inexpensive tipis.

As HM says, the Minifigs range is surprisingly good and formed about 40% of my lead pile – larger than the others but not overly so. Most important, I thought them perfectly compatible with the nicest of the lot, the Blue Moon Warpaint range. If I was starting over , I'd go for a mix of these two.
