So criminals were executed in harsh ways and the public could watch – sounds like most cultures until quite recently. While they had plumbing, it was not up to 20th Century standards. Considering that up through the Renaissance in castles the garderobe dumped into the moat and that there are still outhouses in modern First Work nations…. Soldiers were still being executed for cowardice, mutiny, or desertion at least thru WWII. And insofar as the Cult of Cybelle and self-mutilation by male practitioners, today we still have cultures practicing FGM today in First World countries… |
