Anachronistic and cliche ridden, but it has its moments. It certainly provides some gameable scenario fodder.

[Edit – here's the trailer:

Never heard of it until I googled it just now. I guess I've gotten to the age where I don't keep up with current movies. :(

JimDuncanUK19 Jul 2019 2:29 p.m. PST

Oh, it's a movie, thought you mean't the real thing.

Dynaman878919 Jul 2019 2:56 p.m. PST

I might watch it on demand someday but probably not.

PK Guy Brent19 Jul 2019 2:59 p.m. PST

Too bad that the trailer shows the best parts of the movie. I'd give it a 5 or so out of 10 .50 caliber shells.

Beowulf Fezian19 Jul 2019 2:59 p.m. PST

It was really bad. The first 10-15 mins were ok. Afterwards, it turned into a disaster.

Col Durnford19 Jul 2019 3:22 p.m. PST

When I first saw the trailer, I was really interested – a new D-Day movie!

By the end of the trailer I knew it was going to be a hard pass.

The BEST parts??? Your kidding right?

Great for Weird WWII.

The very first few seconds killed it for me -- a black paratrooper! Come on, I know we have to try to be inclusive these days, but for crying out loud at least stick to historical facts! If they wanted to include black soldiers then at least use a historical unit such as the barrage balloon battalion that was actually there.

But its a Weird World War II movie…

Col Durnford19 Jul 2019 5:54 p.m. PST

I have to agree that the black paratrooper was the point where the turn began for me. I could have kept with it if it was some sort of Dirty Dozen type movie, not in the theater but at least on TV.

Were there any African Americans, let alone NCOs, in the 101st Airborne in 1944? I don't see a segregated Army doing that. As soon as I realized it had something to do with J. J. Abram I knew it was going to be bad. This is really bad. A WWII movie for millennials. And I get it. It is not intended to be history, but still.

Found this conversation interesting but I haven't confirmed any of the information given.

The only African-American soldiers that were paratroopers served in their own, segregated unit. The 11th, 13th, 17th, 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions, and the 517th PRCT were composed entirely of white troops during World War II. The only African-American paratrooper unit was the 555th Parachute Infantry.

First J. J. Abram ruins Star Wars and then Star Trek and now he's going to ruin WWII!

Further to the above, watched it on an airplane – black paratrooper and black paratroop sergeant, Nazi zombie lab – where do I start? Glad I didn't pay to watch it in a theatre!

Dukewilliam19 Jul 2019 10:35 p.m. PST

Couldn't even finish the trailer.

Narratio19 Jul 2019 11:58 p.m. PST

I watched the entire thing sitting on an 8 hour international flight. As a way of passing time it was acceptable. As a slice of history I was tetched from about 2 minutes into the movie. Then the character tropes started to kick in and I just turned off my critical analysis. It was going into overload.

Mindless dreck, decent special effects, decent cast, rubbish story line.

Pass on this one. Getting tired of the "Nazi scientists make unstoppable zombies" type movies.

4DJones20 Jul 2019 2:18 a.m. PST

Alien?

I don't mind Weird WW2, but I'm another that didn't get to the end of the trailer :(

Blackhorse MP20 Jul 2019 7:38 a.m. PST

They should probably have given it a different name. Those historically-minded of us are bound to be disappointed after hearing the title and actually seeing the content. But it clearly is nothing more than a zombie movie, to which I have no objections. I like zombie movies. Don't think I'll be in any rush to see this though.

I was trapped on an airplane with nothing to do, watched about 15 minutes of it, I had a better time staring out the window! horrible movie.

Henry Martini21 Jul 2019 2:25 a.m. PST

If I might be permitted to digress momentarily, I recall many years ago seeing on TV one of the countless cheap and nasty 'Dirty Dozen' sequels.

This one had a plot involving a penal squad being tasked with infiltrating occupied France dressed in German uniforms.

They went through the long and grinding selection and training process, but it was only on the plane heading for the drop zone that it was suddenly noticed that one of the faux-Germans was… black.

I can't recall how the plot resolved this dilemma.

All Sir Garnett21 Jul 2019 2:41 a.m. PST

Shortened the war by about a year…

As I remember, they pretended he was a burns victim and so he wore a hood or bandages. I have to admit the 'Overlord' film showed lazy storytelling with it's inclusion of the black paratroopers. Most other war films at least weave something into the plot to explain the black character's inclusion ( Force 10 from Naverone, Dirty Dozen, Inglorious Bastards 1978).

Its bad. Even if you like weird WWII – its bad. Save yourself the two hours of life I wasted watching this movie. You will thank me latter…
