I need a bunch of miscellany from several different UK/EU vendors. Is there a place that carries stuff from many vendors or would I need to go to each and every one individually?

I need Calpe, Foundry, Lancashire, Alternative Armies, and a half dozen others.

Yes, they are called wargames shows.

There's one nearly every weekend in the UK.

Just pop over anytime.

Most small wargames manufacturers don't sell through vendors in the UK as it is simply not worth their time and effort to do so.

You have to go direct..

Caliver Books stocks product from quite a number of manufacturers, though maybe not any of the ones that you mention by name.

Yeah, being so small, with so many shows, the economics of a "War Store" make little sense over there.

I guess there is still no international market eh?

Again, all evidence points to a shrinking hobby not a growing one. I wish it weren't so.

I need a "War Store" in the US!

I disagree. Dealing directly with the manufacturer is international. I'd wager a log of them deal directly with the customer.

Do I wish there were still bricks and mortar stores? I sure do. I loved going in and browsing and fondling the products. Plus I could always find something unexpected. But those days are virtually gone unless the store has an online presence. But I'd say it's more international now that it has ever been.

Still don't think the hobby is shrinking; people have been saying that for fifteen years, but I haven't seen the evidence. Of course, eventually the nabobs of negativism will be right.

There is an international market, so UK manufacturers often have a USA retailer (such as Scale Creep Miniatures) but there is no point in selling to a UK retailer and cutting into your margins in your home market…

If you are planning a visit to the UK, simply head for Nottingham in general and the Lenton Business Centre in particular. Here at Lenton you can call in on us, Arcane Scenery. We have stocks from about 60 different manufacturers, although none that you mention specifically. In addition we post free to the USA. You can see our site here:

However, as well as us, on the same site you can visit Northstar Games who carry a huge range of suppliers, Warlord Games, Footsore Miniatures, Trent Miniatures, Riverhorse Publications and Lucid Eye Miniatures. Games Workshop HQ is situated less than 5 minutes away and Battlefront are 15 minutes down the road at Chillwell as are Wargames Illustrated. If you would like to visit Foundry, they are about 40 minutes drive away and we can even recommend a good pub to stop at on the way….I hope that this helps.
