I had a hankering to do some Star Wars tabletop gaming, but whilst I think the Star Wars: Legion figures are lovely, I also think they're pretty over-priced for what they are.

So, being me, I've come up with a cheaper alternative – think of it as an Alternate Universe, rather than an Expanded or Canon universe. And the suggested figures could be used to enhance your existing Star Wars games.

All can be found on my blog:

Yep… cool blog entry :) .

I've used the Hasslefree 'jedi' for various team members and they are really nice.

It's amazing what you can come up with if you look around… I wouldn't rule out Bushido miniatures (with a weapon swap) for Jedi, either :) .

Happy hunting.

Excellent ideas, since I agree with you, the Legion figs prices are nuts.

AND, of course, The Empire is "the side of law and order".

;-)

I don't think SWLegion infantry prices are too nuts, they're $23 USD for ~7 minis at the cheap-LGS, that's a little over $3 USD a mini. Maybe $30 USD at MSRP for ~$4 a mini?

I agree with Lion.

I'm having a hard time with the argument that SWL prices are out of whack.

I mean a squad of 7 normal troopers you can get for $20.00 USD brand new on Ebay with free shipping. And single characters are in the $10.00 USD range but you also get a set of stat cards to go with them so it's not at all outrageous.

Even their bigger vehicles like the Airspeeder come in at $30.00 USD and one of the biggest models, the ATST is $50.00 USD.

Those are hardly what I would call nuttu prices that would require a dire need to find alternative minis.

And also, what's so cheap about 6.00 GPB for a pack of two figures? That works out to nearly $10.00 USD for two figs. And the individual smaller figs for 4.50 GPB? That's nearly $7.00 USD for a single figure!

I mean if you want to play SWL you need to build up some rank and file. You have to spend some money to build up the armies. If you look at what you get in the SWL Core starter sets for minis. it's an awesome deal.

Count me also as one who was pleasantly surprised at the low cost of Legion figures. Here in Australia I'm able to pick up Rebel trooper boxes for AUD$17 via ebay, glad to see were getting better prices than our American friends for once!
