What is your status regarding FB and wargaming? 1) Never been on it 2) Active member of FB, but don't post gaming stuff 3) Active member and always post gaming stuff 4) On it but rarely active in either capacity 5) Used to be on FB but have since closed my account I'm finding my painted work is much more appreciated there than here – and on LAF my stuff is ignored almost completely. |

3) Far more active there than anywhere else. TMP used to be my main hang out. But FB functions and groups make it a far superior platform, and is far more active for the stuff I care about, especially 6mm/MicroArmor |

Of my 10 war game "favorite" saved sites, 7 are facebook pages. There are just so many options there! The "SAGA" page alone is as active as TMP yet very specific to Saga. I must admit though, I am not your typical facebook user. I only joined to be able to get to war game pages. I use a fake name with a fake email and… I've never even been to my own home page! |

#1 Have stayed away so far but with more and better functionality – groups marketplace, etc, I may succumb to the dark side! FB seems to be replacing other things like Yahoo groups anyway. Soon everyone will be assimilated and all your data will be used to sell you things you never knew you needed. |

6. Active in a few wargaming groups My club arranges things through Facebook, which is why I created an account in the first place, and then I am a member of a BtH group which is really cool. |

I understand everyone's pet peeves over social media, privacy concerns, etc., but the reality is that the wargaming presence on there exceeds anything else in the hobby at the moment. The Wargamers FB page alone has over 11,000 members and there are literally groups for every aspect of the hobby. You can pick and choose what group to belong to and the gaming marketplaces are fantastic. Many of these pages have shown me all kinds of games, supplements, etc., that I never knew existed. I think the only down side is that things can scroll by too rapidly and there's really no indexing/archiving for later reference. |

4. The datamining and snooping really creep me out, and I find the UI terribly designed, but it seems that if you want any info, more and more establishments are going to it. (Though ironically all the youngsters are abandoning it in droves for other places like Instagram, partly because it's no longer the hip place to be because so many establishments and oldsters are embracing it). |

3 => Found far more activity in areas of interest on FB Pretty easy to dial into just what I want (easy enough to ignore all the garbage). The conversations (in the groups I belong too) are usually quite good and engaging. |

2 and 3 Facebook is absolutely essential these days and is the cornerstone of our campaigns to save Britain's battlefields (and other heritage stuff I am involved in that's not core to TMP's interests). You can add one (sometimes two) noughts to the number of people you can reach, you can get petitions over the (critical) 10k mark in a few days, you can change the policies of local councils through the public pressure you can generate. For history and heritage it is the most important tool in the armoury (way ahead of, say, twitter). And it is completely free. My secondary use is for friends and family. It is brilliant. Finally I use the DBA and one or two other wargame pages. They are excellent and much better than any of the other forums I am on. Facebook stuff is always positive and inspiring. None of the stuff you seem to get elsewhere (that killed, say, yahoo email groups) Phil |

Had to get a personal account so I could open one for a business. I'm a member of maybe a dozen pages active on 3-4. I follow several dozen blogs and sort of prefer that format. TMP has the format for a general forum that I prefer. That may be because I've been on it for so long. |
