Been looking at Scotia Grendel as they seem incredibly good value (50 "Modern Russians" for £3.00 GBP that could easily pass muster as IG) but very few pics on their site, anyone have experience with them?

Have seen lovely stuff from Vanguard and Onslaught too, but that bit pricier…

Their vehicles are top notch, but I have no experience with the infantry figures.

I have a bunch of Scotia Grendel Infantry figs (cold war Russians, and some of the sci fi human codes). In my experience, they are a little rough but look good when painted. The heavy weapons troops I have are all cast as team bases rather than individual figs- the good part is that they are durable, the drawback is that they are virtually impossible to cut apart and reposition, so every team will look the same.More importantly, for the command and normal infantry codes, many of the figs have very thin ankles, so they often get bent during shipping and might break off. I found that most strips ended up with one or two broken at the ankles and a few strips ended up with over 50% broken…. they are cheap, though, so you still might come out ahead on price, in spite of the breakage.

Another company to consider is Brigade Models (uk). They make a few sets of Infantry figs in their 6mm sci fi line. Those are much more durable than S-Grendel and each pack has a decent mix of riflemen and specialists to make up a platoon.

Thanks guys – @Pattus, would you mind posting a picture?

I'm away from home for a couple of weeks, but I can snap a few pictures when I get back. Is it the S-G figs you're most interested in seeing?

Thanks guys- Brigade and GZG look pretty good, @Onslaught your stuff is DOPE but just a little out of my price range at the moment for an IG tactical company!

Skinflint Games09 Jul 2019 4:06 p.m. PST

@Pattus please mate, that would be fantastic :-)

Pattus Magnus09 Jul 2019 6:08 p.m. PST

No problem, I'll take some pics of the painted ones and I'll see if I can dig some unpainted strips from the pile.

Vanguard Minitures Tusculum Nova Regulars look like they would make great epic guard proxies

I've just ordered some of there Cybershadows minis to use as Ad-Mech in a new epic army

Cheers Pattus – Andy, yes they do, but I don't have the budget for a full company's worth unfortunately. Folks, buy enough copies of Apocalypse: Earth and we'll be all over that! ;-)
