We had a Seven years war game at the club with my Russians fighting an Austro-Reichsarmee force.
Fiercely fought, it was!

My blog report is at this link

Enjoy!

Thanks for sharing!

Looks like a very typical SYW battle, where terrain had some crucial impact on the flow of the battle. It seems to me too rare in wargames for a second line to exist, let alone be run over by a recoiling first line!

Cheers Langobard, we have been working on these rules for over a decade, and feel they are the closest thing to the battles we read about we could get.
Its a system of trade-offs, you either keep your 2nd lines in reach to support the first, or further back, where its difficult to support the first line, but they don't get disordered by a forced retreat!

I like your engagements Herky, too many people always want to recreate certain battles or certain historical situations. Let's be creative!! Russians vs Reicharmee, fun!! we used to do Austrians vs Russian all the time. I've always wanted to do a 1809 Napoleonic campaign in Western Germany, but I digress. I've read a number of posts recently where people were wondering which "battle" to do first. Why not make up your own scenarios?

Herky, most of my knowledge of the SYW comes from half a dozen books by Chris Duffy, but your AAR could almost have been taken from one of his descriptions (I can give no higher praise).

Have downloaded your rules and will start to look at them.

Once again, thanks for sharing!
