Marines from 42 Commando dropped on to the vessel, dubbed Grace 1, via rope from a Wildcat helicopter early on Thursday while others approached on rigid inflatable boats.

Around 16 officers from the Royal Gibraltar Police then boarded the tanker, which was thought to be carrying oil from Iran to a refinery in Banyas, Syria, to supply the regime of Bashar al-Assad…"

Hmmm, I just read that a little while ago.

Thanks for posting for others.

A very interesting development to be sure.

I saw the video last night. That is one big ship.

I find it amusing that A) Syria is importing oil and B) to get oil from Iran to Syria they have to go through the Straights of Gibraltar. That means they avoided the Suez Canal and couldn't work with their friends in Northern Iraq.

Crazy stuff.

Spain is getting whiny about whose waters the seizure was made in, but are quite clear about the EU sanctions aspect. Though if the tanker had accidently ran into Gibraltar I'm sure Iran would still be calling it an 'illegal stoppage'

Maybe we can find some convenient neutral port and start parking these beasties. We can put this one next to that North Korean ship we seized some weeks ago.

We can auction them off at the end of the month the way the state police sell off impounded cars.

We send the secretary of commerce down there to bid $5 USD over whatever the top bid is. Reflag them US, paint em red white and blue and have the tanker service Kuwait and the Collier ply Chinese waters.

Go ahead, mess with 'em.
