Is there any info available for the above idea? I've been watching some movies and have been inspired to give this type of game a whirl.

If not, any suggestions for available games that cover the same topic?

The Tomahawk and the Flame variant is available through the Jackson Gamers website.

I have both the Tomahawk and Flame and Larry's
Bugles, Boots and Saddles. Each makes a good
game. I use the 'flame' with 28's and 'saddles'
with 40's, purely by preference.

I helped playtest the Tomahawk and the Flame something like thirty years ago. The author, Hans Von Stockhausen, did a huge amount of research while writing the rules and, for that reason, the games tend to play out historically, with the Indians "nickle and dime-ing" the cavalry and likely to unpredictably break contact. There's a wealth of information in the notes, which are worth having for their own sake.

"The Tomahawk and the Flame" is available, as Devious stated, from the "old" Jackson Gamers web site: link

We used it in a game just a couple of weeks ago. Nick Stern's comments, above, are almost exactly how the game played out.

Thanks! I've printed out "The Tomahawk and the Flame" and I've ordered "Bugles, Boots and Saddles."

I will throw my hat in for The Tomahawk And The Flame as well. We've had several fun games with them.
Cheers, Sgt G
