Amelia Earhart and Fred Noonan left Miami, Florida, on 1 June 1937, headed around the world. On 29 June, they landed at Lae, New Guinea (above). Three days later they disappeared in the vast reaches of the Pacific. Navy searchers looked for them in vain, but now a research team is convinced it has found their final landing site… link |
