Are the Portuguese infantry belts white or black ?

Timmo uk01 Jul 2019 10:37 p.m. PST

Both were used. Which is correct depends on the troop type, the regiment and when it was equipped.

Basic rule of thumb: line infantry white, cazadores black.

Line infantry belts were white.
The backpacks are the issue on available figures.
Portuguese line infantry were originally issued with a calfskin-type hairy backpack. When I opened the Warlord box of plastic Portuguese Line, I was a bit surprised to find the backpacks modelled after the square British Trotter 'back-breaker' design, leading me to reckon these had been a British, and thus later, issue…which then might make the original false-fronted barettina shako redundant…a mix of styles, you see.
One last thing. ONE flag per batallion. Not two.
