The waves lapped softly against the muddy bank, it was a calm sea beyond the small mash of islands that lead out to the towers in the bay. The water gave no signs of the violence that was about to be unleashed upon it.

The beastmen crews of the ships docked closest to the mainland had scampered back to the twin plaugeships at the approach of the Greenskin horde.

With his forces consolidated Otto Glot felt confident that he could now move en masse towards the enemy.

picture

He ordered the tribesmen forward first. They would be a good way to measure the orc's sincerity in this attack.

The enemy giants splashed forward as the mortal followers of Nurgle ran the length of the ship towards them.

picture

As Otto shouted orders for his troops to move forward, Orthac started muttering and behind him Otto could hear similar sounds coming from Silack Twohorn.

picture

Foul winds whipped around drawing the putrescence that leaked from the sides of the ship and sucking the sounds the two sorcerers were making into them. They coalesced and formed beings made of solidified stench and decay. These glanced from the sorcerers to Otto and with a wave of his hand the daemons were on their way, on foot or wing, towards the Greenskins.

picture

Soon Otto taped his scyth on the back of his brother and Ghurk lumbered forward, each step of his massive bulk causing the deck to groan under the terrific weight.

The first clash happened at the front of the ship, green sorceries caused two of his men to die before the enemy was even within shooting distance but Otto was not worried. There were many to take the place of any that fell.

picture

As the orcs and goblins splashed through the shallows, the chaos forces ran along the decks of their ships.

picture

Two massive squigs landed on the prow of Otto's ship. All chains and gobs the creatures bit and bounced, causing much confusion but little loss of life.

picture

His warriors formed up, their shields interlocking as they poked at the creature. They did little damage to it but also absorbed most of the attacks of the enemy until flying daemon forces were able to mob the creatures and eventually the combined efforts of men and daemons brought the rampaging creatures low.

All along the line the forces of Nurgle met the elite of the Greenskin army and held. A giant took a step up onto the deck of the leading plagueship causing it to list before righting when he hauled the rest of his bulk aboard.

picture

He was met by two of Otto's captains and the fight was one sided and ended when the blightkings charged in, slaying the giant and driving off a mob of squig hoppers.

The giant smashed the railing of the ship as it fell dragging one of the blightkings with it, doing more damage in death than it had in life.

picture

The back and forth flow of magic, with daemons being summoned and dark spells cast had a noticeable effect on the realmgate and soon blue energies were leaking from the portal and flowing into the sea.

picture

The seabed churned with the power and became sticky and grasping.

Each step through the water, or even over the land, was more and more treacherous.

The Glotkin moved towards the enemy ignoring the pull of the muck.

picture

Two of his lieutenants were surprised by an attack and were wiped out, but Otto ordered Ghurk into the enemy and soon the Grots were put to flight.

picture

The Orc Warboss gave a shout as he fell from the side of the ship and morale collapsed among the Greenskin forces.

picture

With their objective seeming further away than ever the Greenskin force melted away before the power of Chaos.

The game was a lot of fun. The boats were made with insulation foam and coffee stirers for the most part. Some I just used the foam and a wire brush.
