Loved!

"After an evening fiddling with Heroscape terrain hexes on my two portable gaming boards, I finally had a suitably cluttered landscape for an interesting solo skirmish game using my recently rebased vintage Airfix OO/HO American Civil War figures…."

I remember converting all sorts of airfix for civil war.

Never crossed my mind to convert the Japanse or commandos!

Still love the Airfix Type 1 figures. Very easy to paint and convert. They get a slating on PSR but they actually miss the point. When I first saw 'proper' metal figures I was shocked by the poor proportions compared to my venerable Airfix.

I doubt the ACW figures will get released again because they are not of the 'standard' required nowadays, although I doubt many gamers are capable of painting all that extra detail and would be better off with Type 1-style Airfix.

All this were fields when I were a lad etc etc.

Great stuff, Paul. But you're even less likely to see the Type 1 FFL. Even mine from the late 70s were Type 2!
