Please, I need as specific as possible the weapon's name, caliber, range, weight, dimensions, etc, as I need to find a good color photo of an example to use in "Viva Juarez!: A Source Book For the French Intervention In Mexico, 1862-67." If I can only get the specific weapon name, I can probably find a photo on the Net. If anyone can help me, please write me at TVAG@att.net Contributors will be credited by name! TVAG |

If you are asking about the Polish Lancers who served with the Austrian Volunteer Corps, I imagine they carried the Austrian kavallerie pistole in any model # they could get from the 1851 to 1862 model range. Austrian cavalry retained the single shot muzzle loading pistol during this time period. |

79th PA! Alright, this focusing on what I need. But can you provide any specific name/maker/model/etc so I can search for more info? I'm afraid "Austrian Kavllerie Pistole" will be a bit too general, though I'll give it a try. Please, everyone, keep it coming! TVAG |

Just add the model number and you should be fine. Model 1851, 1854, 1860 and 1862. I believe they were all the same caliber. |

Patrick, I just did some googling, I like doing that sort of research. It would seem that all the models between 1851 – 62 were very similar in appearance. Unless you are modelling 40mm or larger, I can't really see being able to tell the difference. |

Here is a pic of a 1862 model, along with a description. link |

Gentlemen All! Thank you so much for your input, and 79thPA's link was the gold mine! No, I'm not modeling this remarkable looking item, just trying to provide an illustration, dimensions, etc, as part of the section on weapons carried by the various forces during the French Intervention. I'll have to credit you all collectively as the cognoscenti of TMP! Don't be shocked if I have another such request in short order, but this may complete the research. Gratefully, TVAG |
