"It's time to close the spreadsheets and think differently about the world of energy.

A couple of weeks ago, the International Energy Agency (IEA) released their 176-page report titled, World Energy Investment 2019. I will spare you the read and take you to a quote, buried on page 30 that pretty much sums up what most analysts in the business already know: "Energy investment is misaligned with where the world appears to be heading…"…."

Investment goes where the returns are greatest – apparently even with government subsidies and incentives renewable doesn't cut it.

It's not like there aren't government subsidies to fossil fuels too.

Mkultra9920 Jun 2019 8:04 a.m. PST

Like we have really given renewable energy a fair shot.. lol.

China's actions in the South China Sea and the Arctic, the *Arctic*, show that they expect to be using fossil fuels for a very long time. If the most populous country with the highest industrial output and the highest energy use is planning on using fossil fuels so far into the future that they want their share of the natural gas under the North Pole, fossil fuels aren't going anywhere.

Fossil fuels may not be going anywhere, but if we continue to use them, we will.

Now, can anyone tell me where the wargaming connection is here?

I don't see the wargaming connection, but as with most things don't trust anyone that says, "…I will spare you the read…". I suggest the opposite…go read for yourself and you might just reach a different conclusion. Of course, one can go look for a "fact" taken out of context that supports one's a priori conclusion.

Only 12 years left anyways.

Thought it would be obvious: fighting over the fossil fuels!

I do have one interesting point to add, however: The oil found in the Mississippi River deposits still contains measurable quantities of Carbon-14. This means it is less than 60,000 years old!
