"Traveling at 5-times the speed of sound, skipping off the boundary of the upper atmosphere and descending upon enemy targets with targeted force, emerging hypersonic weapons promise to massively reshape offensive combat tactics.

Recognizing this, Pentagon and industry developers are now testing a new series of hypersonic weapons prototypes as part of a large-scale effort to fast-track the weapons to service. The US acceleration of the weapons, which includes air flights, ground-firing, wind-tunnels, simulation and various kinds of prototyping, is widely discussed as much needed response to Russian and Chinese progress in the area of hypersonics…."

An interesting article.

I think B-1s, B-2s, B-52s, and even converted Boeing 747s and other large commercial aircraft conversions would be excellent for lofting these at the enemy.

Why use small fighters to carry just a few of them, when you can send an arsenal jet or jets, each armed with dozens or scores of them to really lay on the hurt to your enemies, when needed?

Really depends on how much 'help' those missiles need to get hypersonic.

If the hypersonic missile carrier needs to be supersonic already, then you're down to the B1 or F22/F35.

The Russian hypersonic missile is so big that a MiG31 can only carry one, so even a B1 could only carry a couple.

If no plane can carry more than 1 or 2, might as well use the fighters.
