I'm starting a 1st Bull Run project, focusing on Jackson's Brigade rather than the whole battle.

Here's the first regiment done, the 33rd Virginia.

Very nice! The flags are gorgeous.

Yes! Beautiful flags!

Neat project Nick!

I have considered doing the skirmishing up to and including Blackburn's Ford -

As many of us don't have access to hundreds of 28s, taking the gaming 'down a level' to brigade-level scenarios is a viable alternative, and looking forward to seeing what you can do with your [manageable] project ambition here!

This is truly inspiring and very motivational! I can't wait to see more.

The flags are from Flags of War, based in Scotland.

Very nice figs and flags!

The only First Manassas flag from Jackson's Brigade that is certain is that of the 2nd Virginia. See the link here for images of both sides:

The text also repeats the statement that this was the only flag carried by Jackson's Brigade but I would want to see the original document before accepting that claim.

The 5th Virginia flag with the large star on its field was issued after Manassas.

Sorry, my above posting should have been in NickNorthStar's other thread.

Hi Ryan T.
Thanks for the answer. I read the same piece about the 2nd Virginia flag (Does anyone make a printed paper version?). I was also a bit surprised by the statement it was the ONLY flag carried by Jackson's Brigade. I decided that just wasn't going to happen, it's not what we do is it? I noticed the artist Don Troiani didn't follow that either, his painting of 1st Bull Run all have regiments with at least the National Flag flying.

For the 2nd Virginia, I'd like to try and get a version of that flag for them plus a National flag. I'm using the Perry figs in frockcoats and havelocks for the 2nd Virginia.

Thanks for the note on the 5th Virginia flag. I'm still going to go with the Bonnie Blue Flag for the 5th, just for varieties sake.

Nick, great looking figures and flags. It is nice to see single rank basing again. Back when I started gaming in the 70's, almost everyone used the single rank basing convention, which seems to have fallen by the wayside with a lot of gamers today.

Indeed 79thPA!

And Nick's put in a little "swagger stagger" between his figs, to add some motion and depth to their alignment too.
