Am I being a purist? Or blinkered? It just seems to me that recently there has been a creep of non-Napoleonic subjects from other boards. Sometimes I can see the point if it has anything to do with early 19th Century warfare, but recently there seems to have been a lot of items from the firearms boards. I can appreciate a Glock or H+K as much as the next man, but they have no place on boards to do with Napoleon and his era.

What is going on?

Ah. I thought "subject creep" would be when the Emperor of the French decides that Germans, Italians, Spaniards and Slavs are also his subjects.

Incredible…

Perhaps it would be more appropriate to designate the territory claimed and taken, along with the populations, by the allies at the Congress of Vienna?

Certainly, the Poles, Rhinelanders, and northern Italians were not too happy to be again taken over by the Russians, Prussians, and Austrians, respectively.

And the reintroduction of the Inquisition in Spain and the Papal States was not a popular evolution among the populations, and the reintroduction of the Jewish Ghetto in Rome by the Pope was not a big hit with the Jewish population…

I'd long come to the conclusion that His Imperial Majesty Napoleon I, by the Grace of God Emperor of France and King of Italy had no discernable sense of humor. Evidently it's catching.

Napoleon was not 'Emperor of France' but Emperor of the French. There is a difference.

As to his sense of humor, he was once asked by one of his officers (could have been Savary) if he wanted to be God. Napoleon thought a minute then shook his head, replying 'Dead end job.'

As to whether or not I have a sense of humor, it's irrelevant.

"irrelevant" but obvious.

Errr…. not quite the point I was trying to make. Seems a subject creep of another nature has taken place.

But, as I said, why all these modern weapons on the Napoleonics board?

"Subject creep" was actually quite a witty response but may not have translated to all Robert P…..it was quite subtle, but I enjoyed it. The English language can be confusing at the best of times

Nobody move! Take this thread to Cuba!

I don't think what happened here was subject creep, I think it was a thread hijacking.

Dn Jackson has a point. What I thought of as a witty interjection got out of hand. My apologies, Artilleryman.

But I think what you really need is one of the administrators to find out whether people are cross-posting to inappropriate boards, or whether we have a glitch of some sort.

Boney's lack of humor creepy, his compulsory micromanagement as well, subjects? – better serves, Germans and Italians to be plundered systematically to finance Boney's wars.
