Has anyone used the set from Foundry to paint their ACW minis?

If so, is it worth the money?

I don't have this specific one, but I have other sets from Foundry. Their sets are based upon their "three color" painting system. It's only worth it if you use their system.

For me, I didn't get into the three color system, and wound up using the paints as I would any other. I found I get more than satisfactory results by using dry brushing and dip (Army Painter) to get the depth I want.

I really enjoy the Foundry paints and the layering systems in general. Sure, you can use them just as individual colors. The benefit is that if you like the triad, you don't have to write down the recipe for later use.

12 palettes for the price of 10 – great deal – especially if you are just starting to accumulate paints. The paint itself is viscous and not fussy.

I've just recently begun working with these paints. I can't say a little yet about 3 coloring, but the quality of the paint, in terms of coverage, viscosity and depth of color has been impressive.

Thanks, I may try a couple of the uniform sets to see how it goes.

OK, had a go with these – Union blue and Union trouser blue. I think there is redundancy in the three colour sets. The one figure I undercoated black, then did the shade, main colour and highlight; the other figure, I undercoated grey and then applied the three colours.

The shade colour was unecessary with the dark blue (jacket and kepi), even with a grey undercoat. However, the trousers came out better with the grey undercoat, rather than the black undercoat.

Whilst I won't be using the 3 colour system, the pigmentation of the paints is excellent.

I use a lot of Foundry triads and find the majority very good but I do tend to intermix to avoid excessive colour change (A, A+B, B, B+C, C and not always 50/50 mix).
I have only just purchased The Confederate triads and they work okay – even on 15mm.
