We played our first game using the Saga rule set and used it to try the Age of Crusade supplement. It was an enjoyable game and the rules, while more suited to tournament play than historical, offer lots of nuances and decision making. The system is quick to learn but offers lots to think about. Miniatures and terrain supplied by my regular opponent Dave. I've written a full game report Saga Age of Crusades

Not familiar with these rules so found it harder to follow the flow. I agree with your comment that it did not seem to feel like a real combat but more like a gaming system.
