Count Nils Brahe was a rising star in the army of Gustav Adolf, and a favourite of the King. Brahe commanded the Yellow brigade at Lützen, 1632, where he was wounded, and died two weeks later from the wound. I have modelled him bravely leading his regiment in to the 'teeth of the gale', so to speak!

Thanks, Codsticker, much appreciated :-)

Very nice work, here is the doublet that Brahe wore at Lützen link
The silk was originaly white in colour but has turned yellow with age, the reddish parts are the lining which is visible where the top layer has been lost. The entire doublet is decorated with small cuts & holes punched into the silk ('pinking' in English IIRC)

Given the cold of the day of battle Brahe would have worn several layers including a sleeved buffcoat so the dobulet would not have been visible. (It was such a cold day that Gustavus wore 3 sets of shirts under his lined buffcoat.)

Thanks, Daniel S. Great link, and info, as always. I will have to give him a sleeved buffcoat next time :-)
