"…As the Venetian galleys approached,a black galley suddenly tore out of the harbor and escaped rapidly into the darkness, leaving everyone to speculate over it's identity. This mysterious vessel was actually a spy ship commanded by the notorious Barbary pirate Kara Kosh…. !"
- The battle of Lepanto 1571, by R.F. Marx

I painted this galliot based on the "black Galley" from history. 1/300th scale galliot model from Skull and Crown. skullncrown.com

Awesome work! I read about this galley in the Empires of the Sea book and plan on painting up a version of it for my 1/2400 Tumbling Dice fleets.

Prince Alberts- I read it there as well- also a mention in Galleys at Lepanto. Love when history gives us these great story points.

Looking forward to seeing your black galley.. erm, you know what I meant.

Cheers
