The name of a new fiction novel about a young Army lieutenant helicopter pilot struggling to deal with an older warrant officer who shows signs of insubordination. The catch, the older pilot experienced something in Vietnam which still haunts him. How will this play out as the unit gets involved in yet another controversial war, the war on drugs.
This is the author's first novel. He is a former Huey pilot and presently a lawyer.
I was at "the Gap" as an ROTC Cadet in the late '70s … Regardless … the novel sounds interesting. And it makes in even more so that it was written by a Vet, IMO.
I think if you did Army ROTC in an Eastern & Central Pennsylvania college, you ended up at FIG at some point or another. I went to Penn State. I have no idea what the kids at Pitt FREX do, if they go to FIG or someplace in Eastern Ohio?
I went to YSU, in OH … but we didn't do Basic or Advanced Camps at FIG. But just did some weekend training. YSU did Basic at Knox and Advanced at Lewis. I only did the Advanced as I started ROTC as a Freshman.
