A Napoleonic modeller just passing through.

The MG team top is just superb. The photography is great.

The flag is a naval ensign and these sons of Nippon are not marines, as far as my memory of WWII Japanese uniforms goes. Should they not just have the plain Hinomaru, or however a meatball was spelt?

The warflag of the Japanese Imperial Army is the rising Sun with the sun centered on the flag. The Naval ensign has the rising sun off center. Then there are different numbers of rays, but that is getting too anal for me.

Looks centered to me. Have I got that right?

I spent today posting Marines in 28mm in Hue 1968. Folk have been very complimentary, but the Grunts shown above are far better…….

As I said before, the flag with all the sunrays is a naval ensign. Marines could have got away with that, but they would have black leather webbing. Different numbers of rays were for admirals flags. Like Tsushima, raised on Akagi Dec 7th 1941 (we would say 7.12.41. You chaps would say 12.7.41)

But uniform of the Empire of Japan, I would not have a clue. I am a Napoleonic buff…these days anyway

Bowman is right and I am wrong!

The sunray flag with the meatball centred is indeed an Army flag

Off centre is naval.

Different numbers of rays relate to admiral's ensigns.

I will stick to Napoleonics!
