I have wandered through my usual morning web postings, and see nothing about the surrender of Germany on this day in 1945 – Victory in Europe. I was 8 years old then, and it was the saddest day of my young life, for the Germans had not waited for me to get into the fight! The saddest day ever was in August, 1945, when we dropped the atomic bombs, and Japan surrendered. I was convinced that no nation would ever need men with rifles again! GdeP |
