You were asked – TMP link How Many Space Marine Chapters Do You Have? Of those who had Space Marines, the average response was 2.15 Space Marine chapters.

Interesting result. I don't play any 40K at present and I wonder from what I have seen if there's that much variety between Chapters in game play that you would need two or more?

Not a whole Chapter per se. I don't do 40K but Epic. And have a bunch of 6mm Bns and Rgts of SMs !
