I like to keep the budget down on my wargaming (even though I earn good money these days, old habits die hard), and I enjoy the creative side of the hobby, so I worked a bunch of the Perry miniatures plastic AWI riflemen sprues into passable US frontier milita for 1812:
Which look naturally a lot better with a lick of paint:
