With Battlefront releasing plenty of models for Oil War, I was wondering what are the other rulesets out there that can be used to play engagements during the 82 Lebanon war.

Any recommendation?

thank you

Thee usual generic post-WWII suspects should work:

Cold War Commander
A Fistful of TOWs
Combined Arms (Command Decision Modern)

If you're looking for theatre and period-specific rules similar to Oil War, there aren't any that I know of. Battlefront seems to be the only company that caters to specific periods and theatres to such an extent. I mean, they have two separate rulesets for the Mideast post-WWII (FOAN and OW) for crying out loud. Who else does that???!!! Okay, maybe Force On Force when it was still actively releasing books left and right a long time ago.

Maybe that's why it's on the Fantasy board.

I Ain't Been Shot Mum with the Rock the Casbah supplement which is specifically designed for the Lebanese Civil War and includes several scenarios from the early 1980s.

Repaint. I mispoke/mistyped. Rock the Casbah is actually designed for Troops, Weapons and Tactics – the TooFatLardies platoon level game before Chain of Command. Apologies. The two can be crunched together but it will present more of a challenge.

AK 47 has the necessary parts needed for the conflict. Both editions.

Played a lot of Lebanon ‘82 several years ago with AK47, it gave very good games.

22f and repaint, actually I seem to remember that rock the casbah is a Lebanon 82 supplement for both IASBM and tw and t, were you get info on units and add-ons to be used in both rulesets

AK-47 and Rock the Casbah are both good rules sets, it would be more of a question of what level of granularity you are looking for. The Battlefront products are at a much higher level (company/battalion). I greatly enoy the Two Fat Lardies rules but they are not to some people's liking.

Follow this link to take a look at some of the games we have played using Rock the Casbah and see if you think you would enjoy the rules link

they are not to some people's liking.

But the real question on everyone's mind is: "Do the Shareef like it?"

The Battlefront products are at a much higher level (company/battalion).

True. The ones mentioned in my previous post are all played at a similar level of organization and formation/unit size.

thanks all for the advice.

I bought Rock the Casbah which looks very much the type of game I am looking for. I will try to investigate more AK47 (and actually already own FoF and Cold War commander!)

FoF, I was planning to play it in 28mm as for Cold War Commander, I should give it one more try. I might try Fireteam modern in 15mm as well.

All in all, I think that's a good selection of interesting rulesets to explore.
Cheers!
